About Althea Bickley, MD

Dr. Althea Bickley is a pediatrician who provides compassionate, family-centered care for children from infancy through young adulthood. She believes great pediatric care begins with listening, and she strives to create an environment where children feel comfortable and families feel heard, respected, and confident in their child’s care. From newborn care and well-child visits to sick care and preventive health, she partners with families to help every child grow and thrive.

After earning her Doctor of Medicine from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Siena College, Dr. Bickley completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University. There, she cared for children in a wide range of inpatient and outpatient settings, including the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, and was welcomed into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition of her teaching and mentorship.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Bickley volunteers with children’s programming in her community and has contributed to pediatric education and advocacy, including co-authoring an article for the American Academy of Pediatrics’ AAP Voices Blog about heavy metals in baby food and what parents should know. She looks forward to caring for children and families in the Fredericksburg community and to building lasting relationships with the families she serves at Zarminali Pediatrics.
She is a mom of three children and enjoys spending time with family.
