Our Approach to Expectant Parents

How we support families preparing for their baby

We know that welcoming a new baby comes with big decisions — and finding the right pediatrician is one of the most important. That’s why we’ve created a warm, supportive process to guide expectant parents from pregnancy through their baby’s first weeks of life. With a dedicated Family Pathways Associate by your side, you’ll have a clear, stress-free path to pre-register, meet your care team, and feel confident that your child’s health is in trusted hands from day one.

1

Find Your Child’s Pediatrician

The right pediatrician can make all the difference in feeling supported and confident as you prepare for your new baby. Many parents begin looking a few months before their due date — especially since little ones sometimes arrive early. Pro tip: Read our guide on “How to Choose a Pediatrician Who Is Right for Your Child.

PRO TIP: Add your newborn to your health insurance immediately following delivery. Insurance plans may require newborns to be added within 30 days of their birth.

Your First Visit

What to expect early on

Your first visit will take place within the first few days of bringing your baby home! This is where we will establish your baseline for future appointments and examine your baby from head to toe.

You will come back for a second visit within the next week to track progress — consider this a well visit for you and your new baby!

From there, we will typically schedule appointments at 1, 2, 4, 6, and 9 months, following the American Academy of Pediatric Standard of Well Child Periodicity Visits guidelines. Throughout these appointments we will establish milestones unique to your child, monitor their overall health, and help your family thrive.

Worried about what to do when your newborn catches their first cold?

We’ve put together a parent-friendly guide to help you know what’s normal, what’s not, and how to feel confident in those early days.
