About Emily Morris

Emily Morris-McGhee is a licensed master social worker who has spent her career supporting clients through substance use disorders, mood disorders and complex trauma. Her practice draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, the NeuroAffective Relational Model and holistic interventions such as mindfulness training, giving families searching for a family therapist a compassionate, evidence-based partner in her care. <br><br>

Curiosity comes first in her approach to care: Morris-McGhee works to understand each patient's background and current symptoms without assumption, pairing that curiosity with warm regard to build trust and rapport. She believes clients can return to feeling whole, confident and free of most symptoms when given the right resources and support to process and heal past trauma. <br><br>

A University of Michigan graduate, she returned to Ann Arbor to open her practice and later transferred her social work license to Michigan, deepening her roots in the community she serves. She earned her Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and honors English from the University of Michigan, where she completed an honors thesis in the creative writing sub-concentration. She holds a Certified Alcohol and Drug Certificate (CADC-E) and a Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan. Outside the clinic, she has practiced Zen Buddhist meditation for 15 years and enjoys kickboxing and hiking.
