About Kimberly Canfield, MD, MPH
Dr. Canfield is a board-certified pediatrician with extensive experience caring for children from birth through young adulthood, including those with complex medical needs. Drawn to pediatrics for its focus on prevention, her patients and families keep her young at heart.Dr. Canfield’s approach to care centers on careful listening, collaboration, and clear, practical education without judgment. She values shared decision-making and works to build trusting relationships with caregivers to help families navigate both routine concerns and complex medical decisions. Known for her humor, patience, and candor, she strives to create a welcoming environment for every family.
Dr. Canfield earned her medical degree and a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota and completed her pediatric residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She returned home to Illinois for additional training in bioethics at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. With over a decade of experience as a pediatric hospitalist, she brings a broad clinical perspective to outpatient care.
Outside the office, Dr. Canfield is a parent to four hilarious children and Red, a large Golden Retriever who firmly believes he is a lap dog. Her free time is spent reading, tending an optimistic but imperfect garden, and shuttling between carpool, recitals, lessons, games, and practices. She finds calm in nature, hot tea with plenty of honey, and the wisdom of Erma Bombeck.
