Finding your child’s pediatrician

The right pediatrician can make all the difference in feeling supported—and confident—as you prepare for your new baby. It's a good idea to start looking for a pediatrician a few months before your baby’s due date, especially since little ones sometimes like to make an early entrance! The steps below provide a template for you to begin and ultimately find your family's healthcare partner.

Meet with our clinicians

We’re here to make it easy. Finding a pediatrician that gets you, supports your parenting style, and—most importantly—takes amazing care of your child is paramount. If you'd like to meet one of our clinicians, call any of our offices to schedule an expectant parents visit. This will allow you to get familiar with the office and clinician, while also learning about our comprehensive care options and your baby’s first visits.

Establish your care partner

We recommend doing these two things before your baby is born:

  • Call our office so we can pre-register your child with our clinic. This will make it easy to schedule their first appointment!
  • Inform your insurance company the name of your chosen clinic and pediatrician.

Your First Visit

Congratulations! Your baby is here.

Over the next few months, we will work side-by-side to ensure your baby is set up for a healthy and happy future.

PRO TIP: Add your newborn to your health insurance immediately following delivery. Insurance plans may require newborns to be added within 30 days of their birth.

What to expect early on

Your first visit will take place within the first few days of bringing your baby home! This is where we will establish your baseline for future appointments and examine your baby from head to toe.

You will come back for a second visit within the next week to track progress — consider this a well visit for you and your new baby!

From there, we will typically schedule appointments at 1, 2, 4, 6, and 9 months, following the American Academy of Pediatric Standard of Well Child Periodicity Visits guidelines. Throughout these appointments we will establish milestones unique to your child, monitor their overall health, and help your family thrive.
